EGGFEST 2010
Eggfest is a celebration of the alligator egg-laying season. As you may have guessed, we have lots of activities involving eggs (we use store-bought chicken eggs for the activities).
Around the first of July, the female alligators build a nest and lay their eggs in the night. Then she covers them up. We can either go out the next day and fight off the female to gather the eggs and put them in an incubator (it’s too cold for them to survive outside). Or, we can collect the eggs in the middle of the night as the female is laying them. She is in a trance while she is laying eggs, so she doesn’t even know we are there.
Come join the activities July 3rd & 4th from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
We’ll have lots of games and prizes!
Open daily 9am to 7pm
